Registration now open for TEDxYouth@MileHigh
Taking place on Friday, March 18, 2016, at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House.
TEDxYouth@MileHigh 2016 is an ideal education and leadership development opportunity for students in grades 6-12. In a single event, at one of Colorado’s premier venues, students will be exposed to a dozen big ideas from the state’s most brilliant thinkers and accomplished doers.
The program challenges audience members to think critically about their lives, communities, and leadership potential and is designed to inspire attendees to be more creative, innovative, and engaged. The program also includes a large Experience Area — an interactive and social space, where students interact with new product demonstrations, art projects, and forward-facing technological innovations. This event is held at the historic Ellie Caulkins Opera House, in downtown Denver.
With this in mind, the event is an ideal supplement to learning in the classroom. Students that attend together in groups from the same school will be able to connect the ideas presented and the overall experience. Further, groups will have the opportunity to discuss the ideas presented and collaborate on how they might implement them in their own lives. Comparable leadership experiences to TEDxMileHigh typically cost hundreds of dollars per participant.
Program
Speaker Session
As for the presenters, many of the speakers will be youth from around the state showcasing their ideas in classic TED format. However, we also plan to showcase 2-4 adult speakers in the program that will inspire and activate the attendees with their stories, ideas, and lives. Two to three TED Talks will also be shown as part of the event.
Your school can nominate one or more students to be considered for these presenting slots. If you or your students have speaker recommendations, please click here.
Experience Area
The TEDxMileHigh Exhibits Lounge showcases technology and product demonstrations, creative and artistic installations, and innovative ideas from ingenious entrepreneurship to inspiring projects. Our exhibitors are Colorado thinkers, doers, and organizations who are thinking outside the box and changing their communities for the better. The Exhibits Lounge is a space for event attendees to engage in social environments, participate in thought-provoking projects, and interact with these innovators and entrepreneurs.
There were over 2000 students registered for last year’s event, with 1750 students on the waitlist, many of which enjoyed the event via Livestream. Check out the talks from TEDxYouth@MileHigh 2015 here.
