On June 16th, over 3,000 people gathered at the Buell Theatre in Denver, Colorado for TEDxMileHigh’s 20th event, TEDxMileHigh: Uncommon.
We heard from 15 speakers and performers, and listened as they shared their big idea with the TEDxMileHigh community.

Race & Identity Workshop
Thursday, June 14 at the Mirus Gallery, TEDxMileHigh: Uncommon attendees had the opportunity to engage in courageous dialogue with each other about race and identity, and the important place that they hold in our world today.
We were led through a facilitated discussion by Theo E.J Wilson, Eric Kornacki, Stephanie Tanny, and Bashir Page-Sanders, and Gabrielle Bryant who shared experiences that created a boldness to reimagine what the future could look like when we are vulnerable but strong in our convictions to make this a more equal and safe place for all.
Bobby LeFebre, and Michael Acuna shared spoken word pieces and performance art that challenged conventional thinking and encouraged attendees to get out of their own mind and venture into the minds of those who are different.
Attendees were inspired to check their perceptions at the door and to audaciously show up and be seen for all that they are and for all that they are not.
The Race & Identity Adventure challenged us all to be part of the solution so that we could be the generation that gets this right!
Groupmuse Performance
Doors opened, people began trickling in, and conversation began to flow over hand-crafted cocktails.
The audience enjoyed a performance by a string quartet featuring some of Denver’s finest musicians. This challenged viewers to engage in the moment and listen and relax to the sounds of a classical performance.
Utilizing the power of social networking, Groupmuse has created secular, sacred spaces in living rooms across the country for community members to gather together and connect with transcendent experiences!
Exhibits & Experiences
There truly was something for everyone – from a series of virtual reality experiences to eating insects, creating live mural art, and relaxing in a hammock in the HealthOne Zen Zone.
Not to mention, a selection of tasty food options from some of Denver’s favorite food trucks, a seed mosaic project, and a cryptocurrency experience empowering attendees to donate to local nonprofits in real time. TEDxMileHigh’ers mingled with one another, discussed their favorite talks, and sparked conversation about the talks that made them think.
New connections were made with each other and with some of the amazing science, tech, philanthropic, and arts entrepreneurs in our great city.
